👨‍🎓 Vocational education and training (VET) respond to the needs of the economy, but also provides learners with skills important for personal development and active citizenship.
Emphasys Centre supports the initiative of the European Commission #EUVocationalSkillsWeek (9-13 November 2020). The EU Vocational Skills Week is an annual event, which offers an opportunity to exchange information and good practice about vocational education and training across Europe and beyond.
Emphasys Centre actively promote and support VET education by participating in the European Erasmus+ VET project, ENTRE@VETSCHOOLS: Promoting Key Competences (Entrepreneurship) through an integrated career orientation programme and flexible learning pathways for VET students.
 The ENTRE@VET programme aims to:
👉support career advisors and VET trainers to upgrade the services provided to VET students for a better career orientation towards entrepreneurial routes;
👉to create Career Hubs, based on synergies with key stakeholders in the labour market, to offer work-based learning opportunities to students;
👉Introducing the Open Badges as a method to validate and award the skills and competences acquired.

Education and Career Fair 2020

Date: 7th – 9th February 2020

Venue: Cyprus Expo

Between the 7th and the 9th of February, Emphasys Centre took part in the annual Cyprus International “Education and Career” Exhibition in Nicosia, Cyprus.

During the Education and Career fair, a time slot was dedicated to the ENTRE@VETSCHOOLS project, where interested counselors, VET professionals and VET students were invited to our workshops to learn more. The Emphasys team informed those present about the project’s aims, products and expected outcomes of the project being developed, as well as the opportunities arising for free training.

The Exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth of Cyprus, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (ΟΕΒ) and the European Office of Cyprus (EOC), in cooperation with the British Council Cyprus.

Overall, the “Education and Career” Exhibition 2020 presented a wonderful opportunity for the dissemination of the ENTRE@VETSCHOOLS project, to a large number of interested people (estimated to be more than 10,000 based the official announcement of the organising bodies).

Focus group with External Experts

In November 2019, two focus groups were organised in Cyprus at Emphasys Centre with VET Career Counselors and stakeholders in order to verify-compare the findings of the survey, and to present recommendations that would be useful and constructive.
